Zoetis-CTPVSS Graduate Student Award

Description

Zoetis-sponsored CTPVSS graduate student award is intended to encourage research and training of graduate students in toxicology. The scope for this award includes broader toxicology disciplines such as veterinary and comparative medicine, food safety, immunotoxicology, developmental and reproductive toxicology, neurotoxicology, regulatory toxicology and risk assessment, safety pharmacology, pathology, genetic toxicology, and environmental. The area of investigation includes whole animals, other integrated system responses, development of animal models, and in vitro.

This award is open to applicants who are currently enrolled in a program leading to an MS, PhD or graduated with their MS in the year preceding the SOT meeting. Applicants must be members of SOT-CTPVSS and preference will be given to applicants having a long-term association with CTPVSS. Non-members can become members of CTPVSS at the time of award application.

A plaque of recognition and monetary prize ($500) will be based on the best abstracts/posters. Qualified applicants whose abstract has been accepted by SOT for presentation at the SOT Annual Meeting may apply by December 30, the year prior to the SOT Annual Meeting at which the presentation will be made.

Applicants must submit the following,

  1. a copy of the abstract
  2. a research synopsis with a brief discussion of the significance of the findings
  3. a letter of support from their major advisor describing the role of the student in the study.
  4. a CV

Winners will be notified prior to the Annual Meeting. Electronic submission (PowerPoint file preferred but other standard formats acceptable) of the full poster will be required by February 28 before the SOT Annual Meeting. Presentation of the monetary awards will be made at the CTPVSS business meeting/reception. The award winner will present a brief (5-minute/2 slide maximum) synopsis of their research at the CTPVSS meeting.
