Description

Description:

Dr. Jacqueline Smith and the late Dr. Jerry Hook have been long-time supporters of SOT and of WIT's mission. Their generous contribution helped to sustain a tradition of supporting awards for undergraduate/graduate students and postdoctoral scholars and to establish the Celebrating Women in Toxicology Endowment Fund. In recognition of their generous legacy of supporting women in toxicology, WIT established the Smith and Hook Distinguished Service Award, which is supported by WIT operating funds.

This award honors an individual for their long-term dedication to promoting career development opportunities and recognition of the accomplishments of women toxicologists and for their service and longstanding support to the SOT and/or WIT Special Interest Group (e.g., officer, committee member, volunteer, etc.).   NOTE: Peer and self-nominations are both welcomed.

The awardee will receive a plaque and monetary award.

  3. At least two, but no more than three, letters of recommendation describing the nominees' significant contributions to women in the field of toxicology and service to SOT/WIT
  4. Curriculum vitae that includes specific descriptions of the applicant's scientific achievements, leadership, and service – 10 pages maximum.
  5. Headshot/photograph image of sufficient quality for poster and presentation materials. (Note:  This requirement does not factor into selection of the awardee; it is to have the information on hand to develop WIT announcements and Annual Meeting materials.)
