The LEAP Award is presented to an established early- or mid-career scientist who identifies as a woman based on the merit of their applications and research contributions in the field of toxicology. The award is intended to provide an expansive experience to learn innovative techniques, broaden your skillset relevant to your field of endeavor, and gain mentorship via the host providing sponsorship. It is the responsibility of the applicant to identify the laboratory/research experience and host that will enhance their career and knowledge of a specific toxicological issue. The training experience can be either laboratory based or computational. The location of the training can be within the applicant’s country of origin or abroad.
The awardee will receive a certificate or plaque and a monetary award up to a maximum of $5000 to defray travel, hotel, and per diem costs to support the recipient during their visit, or software or computational course fees; actual amount will vary based on WIT operating budget restraints. The experience should be completed during the subsequent year and the awardee will provide a webinar regarding how the acquired skills are being integrated into their research. The awardee may also present a brief overview of their experience as a highlight during the WIT reception one year following initial award receipt.
