Description

Description

The Undergraduate Development Program (UDP) Advisor Travel Award provides the opportunity for faculty advisors to attend the Undergraduate Development Program from March 13–15, 2027, at the Society of Toxicology Annual Meeting. During this program, the selected advisors and students learn more about toxicology, career opportunities related to this science, and engage with academic program directors. Overall, the goal of the program is to recruit promising undergraduate science majors interested in research careers and who would especially benefit from this opportunity to graduate school in the biomedical sciences, especially toxicology. The purpose of supporting advisors to participate in this program is so that they will become more familiar with toxicology as a career option for their students and encourage students to attend graduate school in biomedical sciences. We recognize that recruiting individuals with a wide range of perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds enhances creativity and drives innovation across our Society and scientific field.

The UDP Advisor Travel Award offers recipients the unique opportunity to experience our student programming firsthand. Throughout the program, participants engage in presentations and a case study that span the breadth of toxicology while gaining valuable insight into graduate school programs and research career paths.

To facilitate lasting professional connections, advisors and students are integrated into mentor groups led by senior toxicologists and trainee mentors. The experience includes an exclusive advisor-only session on Sunday, followed by full participation in Monday’s Annual Meeting events including the Opening Plenary session and the In Vitro Lecture and Luncheon for Students. The program concludes on Monday with a keynote career presentation from a senior leader in the field.

Support for transportation, lodging, meals, and registration is provided to advisor and student awardees.

Selection of advisors is independent of the selection of students. View Undergraduate Development Program Student Travel Award for student application information.
