Description

The purpose of the Northland Society of Toxicology Merit Award is to recognize a current or former member of NLSOT for distinguished service and contributions to NLSOT and to the field of toxicology.


Main Criteria to be Considered for Nomination:
• Documented distinguished service and contributions to NLSOT


Additional Supporting Criteria to Consider:
• Documented contributions to, and advancement of, the field of toxicology through teaching, research, regulatory activities, etc.
• Committee service or work in other toxicology groups/organizations

Nominating process:
• Submission of a nominating form from an NLSOT member detailing the criteria mentioned above and a seconding form in support of the nomination from another NLSOT member.

The call for nominations will be made to the NLSOT membership in the Spring of each calendar year via email.


The nominees need not be current members of NLSOT. Former members (e.g., those who have moved to another Regional Chapter or who have moved/retired form the field) who meet the criteria above may be nominated as well.


The NLSOT membership will have until September 10th to submit both the primary nomination and the seconding nomination forms to the Executive Committee.


Discussion of the nominees will be made by a Merit Award Committee made up for three (3) NLSOT volunteers from the current year’s NSLTO Executive Committee. 


• There will be one (1) NLSOT Merit Awardee per year.
• There need not be a NLSOT Merit Awardee every year.
• The criteria of the nominees should be carefully considered by the Merit Award Committee and the award should only be granted if the committee determines it is truly warranted.
• If multiple nominations are received in one year, those that do not receive the award may be considered the following year(s).
• The Awardee(s) will receive a small plaque and National SOT will be informed for publication/announcement.
• The Awardee(s) will be named before the fall meeting and will be encouraged to attend the meeting to be officially recognized. Meeting registration fees for those being recognized will be waived.
