Best Student/Postdoc Abstract Awards
Opens: August 15th
Deadline: January 31st

The Mixtures Specialty Section (MixSS), with the sponsorship of RTI International, provides awards targeted towards students and postdoctoral fellows involved in research related to the toxicology of mixtures. The MixSS will recognize two outstanding Student and/or Postdoc abstracts. The winner of each will receive an achievement plaque and a cash award.

To be eligible, the student or postdoctoral fellow must be first author and the abstract must have been accepted by the Program Committee and must advance the field of mixtures research. The award is available to individuals who have completed a bachelor’s degree and are enrolled in a post-baccalaureate program leading to a second bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree. Students in programs leading to master’s or doctoral degrees as well as Postdocs must be members of SOT or show evidence of their application for SOT membership. Students in master’s and doctoral programs as well as Postdocs who are not MixSS members are strongly encouraged to join the Section.

Individuals who have received the award in a prior year may submit a second abstract for the same award if the work described in the second abstract is substantially different from the work described that received the first award.

To apply please include:

1. Confirmation of Abstract Submission;
2. A letter from your major advisor that confirms trainee status (Student or Postdoc) in good standing at the time of abstract submission;
3. A description of your research, not to exceed three pages in length (not including the abstract), single spaced, 12 pt. font.
      o Please include:
          ▪ Abstract (as accepted by SOT)
          ▪ Premise
          ▪ Approach
          ▪ Results (including up to 2 tables and 2 figures)

          ▪ Future Work
