This fund offers a lump-sum scholarship to support graduate training in toxicology for Korean students. The scholarship aims to assist graduate students who demonstrate financial need and are committed to pursuing careers in toxicology. Dr. Young Soo Choi, who was born in Korea, completed her graduate education in the United States and had a distinguished career at the US Food and Drug Administration. In 2008, Dr. Choi generously contributed to the SOT Endowment Fund to establish a scholarship in her name, which awarded its first recipient in 2010.

Eligibility: 

  • Open to undergraduate and graduate students who was born in Korea, or if born in the United States, with one or more parents of Korean descent. 
  • The abstract must be based on the nominee’s own research and accepted for presentation at the SOT Annual Meeting.

Nomination requirements: To nominate a candidate, please submit: 

  • A copy of the accepted abstract
  • Personal statement (up to 2 pages, including student’s previous achievements, financial need, intended use of the scholarship, how it will support their career development, and highlight of the student’s impact) submitted by the student
  • A letter of recommendation from a direct supervisor or mentor 

Award recognition: Each recipient will receive a plaque and a monetary award and will be recognized at the KTAA Reception during the SOT Annual Meeting.
