Description:

This award is selected on the basis of scientific merit and outstanding demonstration of leadership and service to the scientific/toxicology community and is given to SOT members engaged in the field of food safety, including areas such as nutrition, supplements, food contaminants and food packaging. Applicants must be early career scientists, including postdoctoral fellows, in food safety or related areas and be within 10 years after completion of their highest degree at the deadline for submission of applications for this award. Applications are open to all SOT members. Please submit applications to the link provided below.

Requirements:

Applications should include the following:

  1. A 1-2 page personal statement that details the applicant’s demonstrated leadership and service in the field of toxicology or closely related discipline (examples include but are not limited to elected or appointed leadership positions in local or global scientific organizations, service to scientific organizations or events; e.g., such participant in trade organizations, coordinator of a scientific seminar series, etc.). These criteria, with others listed below, are used in the award selection process.
  2.  2 letters of recommendation describing the applicant’s leadership and service to the scientific/toxicology community. In addition to some mention of scientific achievement, letters should focus on recognition of the applicants demonstration of leadership and service in toxicology and/or their community. One of these letters must be from a Full, Associate, or Emeritus SOT member.
  3. Curriculum vitae of the applicant that includes specific descriptions of the applicant's scientific and leadership qualifications– 10 pages maximum

Applications are selected based on the scientific merit and outstanding demonstration of leadership and service in the Food Safety community and given to an SOT member actively engaged in this field.

One awardee will be selected and will receive $2000 and a plaque. The award winner will be announced during the FSSS Reception during the SOT Annual Meeting.
